About the Grades Teacher The Grades Class Teacher guides their class through daily, weekly, and block rhythms, thoughtfully planned in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy and the developmental needs of the children. This role invites continual professional and inner development, including deepening one’s understanding of Anthroposophy and child development, and seeking fresh inspiration and materials for teaching. Waldorf summer training will be required for teachers who do not have familiarity with Waldorf teaching and philosophy. Choir Specialty Teacher
Job Title: Choir Specialty Teacher Job Classification: Non-exempt, Part-time Position Summary Sierra Waldorf School seeks a warm, skilled, and collaborative Choir Teacher to lead our Lower Grades Choir and Upper Grades Choir. The ideal candidate brings strong vocal music skills, joyful classroom presence, excellent classroom management skills, and an understanding of child development through the lens of Waldorf education. This position includes directing weekly choir classes, preparing students for performances, and cultivating a healthy, beautiful choral culture that supports musical growth, confidence, listening, and community. Reports To Lead Specialty Teacher Duties/responsibilities: Teach ● Lower Grades Choir twice per week ● Upper Grades Choir twice per week ● Prepare and lead students in two annual concert performances ● Collaborate with class teachers and administration as needed ● Attend weekly Specialty Mentoring meetings (1/week) Responsibilities ● Plan and teach engaging, developmentally appropriate choral music lessons ● Foster healthy vocal technique, musicianship, ensemble skills, and joy in singing ● Lead students in rehearsals and performances for two school concerts each year ● Select repertoire appropriate to student age, vocal development, and school culture ● Maintain positive classroom management and clear behavioral expectations ● Create an inclusive, supportive, and artistically inspiring classroom environment ● Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and families ● Complete Year End Reports for each choir ● Attend relevant faculty meetings, performances, and school events connected to the role ● Support the broader mission and values of Waldorf education and Sierra Waldorf School Curriculum Expectations Lower Grades Choir Instruction for younger choir students should emphasize imagination, musical playfulness, and foundational ensemble skills appropriate to middle childhood development. Curriculum goals may include: Developing healthy singing posture, breath, and tone Singing in unison and beginning simple part work, including rounds and two-part harmony Strengthening pitch matching and tonal awareness Preparing polished performances for school concert and festivals Learning classical music, folk songs, seasonal music, and culturally diverse repertoire Introducing basic music literacy and solfège concepts Cultivating attentive listening and ensemble cooperation Encouraging confidence, stage presence, and joyful participation Upper Grades Choir Instruction for older students should support the emerging adolescent through increasingly sophisticated musical challenges, collaboration, and artistic responsibility. ASC Director & Afternoon Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Program (Licensed Facility)
Job Title: ASC Director & Afternoon Lead Teacher, Early Childhood Program (Licensed Facility) Classification: Non‑exempt, Hourly Reports to: Administrative Director, Faculty rep to ASC Committee Position Summary The ASC Director & Afternoon Lead Teacher oversees all aspects of the After‑School Care (ASC) program for Grades and Early Childhood. This role manages staffing, licensing compliance, daily operations, child supervision, parent communication, and Waldorf‑aligned program quality. The position also serves as Afternoon Lead Teacher/Interim Director in Early Childhood, supporting classroom rhythm, safety, and curriculum. Essential Duties & Responsibilities ASC Director Responsibilities • Ensure full compliance with California licensed Early Childhood regulations and uphold Waldorf pedagogy. • Be on site during all ASC operating hours; secure campus at end of day. (this isn’t always the case for grades, but could be the case for EC) • Lead ASC meetings and chair the ASC Committee; collaborate with Faculty for evaluations and mentoring. • Maintain FACTS sign in and out and understand the system. • Maintain staffing schedules, child counts, and licensing ratios for Grades and EC ASC. • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor ASC staff; provide ongoing coaching and performance tracking. • Maintain clear communication with employees, parents, and teachers; manage ASC parent communication and drop‑in billing. • Support Waldorf educational principles and participate in Faculty meetings, mentoring, and professional development. • Manage ASC supplies, snack budget, and staff timecards; delegate tasks appropriately. • Maintain a warm, safe, orderly environment aligned with Waldorf values. Afternoon Lead Teacher – Early Childhood • Implement Waldorf‑aligned EC curriculum, seasonal rhythms, and outdoor supervision. • Plan and prepare snacks, including allergy accommodations; maintain safe food‑handling practices. • Ensure all aspects of licensing are met, including accurate sign‑out procedures and proactive child‑safety. • Willing to attend one or more early childhood courses per year. Required Skills & Abilities • Strong communication, organization, leadership, and initiative. • Ability to maintain program rhythm and uphold safety protocols. • Familiarity with safe food handling. • Must pass FBI, CA DOJ, and Child Abuse Index clearances. • Professionalism- including the ability to keep adult conversations away from the children and personal phones put away while working • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction with flexibility • Ability to work independently with children and with groups of children Required Education & Experience • Experience in Waldorf environments and working with children. • Minimum 2 years childcare experience; 1 year leadership experience. • Minimum 6 ECE units and active enrollment toward 12 required units (Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Curriculum). Desired: Waldorf EC or Lifeways training, ASC experience, Anthroposophy background, BA in related field, experience training staff. Physical Requirements Ability to supervise children indoors/outdoors; frequent standing, walking, bending; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; exposure to noise and outdoor conditions. Schedule & Compensation School‑year position (mid August–mid‑June), approx. 29 hrs/week, 12:00–5:45 daily. Compensation: $22–$27/hour; possible 50% tuition remission.

Assistant Teacher -Early Childhood Program- Licensed Facility
Job Classification: Non-exempt, hourly, part-time Summary: The Assistant Teacher participates in all aspects of the classroom work, including managing and preparing for classroom activities and supervising children during regular class hours, supervising independent play, preparing snack, housekeeping and hand work support and duties, participation and support in story time and circle time ( singing, finger games, movement activities), helping the children to clean and tidy the classroom and child observation. Assistant Teachers participate in regular mentoring with EC Faculty and attend the first hour of faculty meetings when available. Reports to: This position reports to the Lead Teacher and Director Duties/Responsibilities: Follow the Waldorf Curriculum as directed by the Class Teacher, which may include but is not limited to the following: Participate in classroom setup, cleaning, and preparation at the beginning of the school year. Closing down a classroom for summer. Share in the care of the children under the Class Teacher’s direction. After School Caregiver
Job Title: After School Caregiver Job Classification: Non-exempt, part-time, hourly Summary: Sierra Waldorf School was established in 1989 and has an Early Childhood program through 8th grade. Our program takes a holistic and developmentally appropriate approach to education. This position runs the duration of the school year, 8-25 hours per week including time for mentoring and training. All new hires would need to learn and utilize Waldorf Educational practices. This position includes fingerprinting, background checks, and a TB test are required before hire. Reports to: After School Care Director Supervisory Responsibilities: none Duties/responsibilities: When required, duties in the program may include the following tasks: Watch and observe children Maintain a safe environment Checking children in and out of program Creating, and preparing age appropriate activities, and crafts Preparing inside and/or outside area for snack Maintaining healthy and appropriate rules and guidelines to keep children safe Maintaining healthy communication with children, staff, parents and teachers Attend weekly staff meetings Wear appropriate clothing Classroom sanitation Assist in closing duties and/or completing closing duties Maintaining appropriate ratios of children to caregiver Maintaining safety of children, staff and families.
