Early Childhood

Licensed Facility Number 553616388

Comprised of our Sweet Pea Nursery and Moss Rose, Red Rose, and White Rose Kindergartens, our Early childhood classes are licensed by the State of California. The goal of these programs is to build a strong foundation for the child's success in the grades and beyond, socially and educationally. The years in Early Childhood will be marked with all-weather outdoor play (appropriate dress a must!), weekly snack rhythms, the beginnings of sewing and knitting, swinging on the rope swing, as well as lots of digging in the sand box. Our Early Childhood classes participate in Gardening, Puppetry, Practical Arts, and Spanish specialties.

A hearty snack and lunch, as well as seasonally appropriate clothing should accompany the child everyday. The school day begins at 8:25am and concludes at 2:00pm (Kinder) or 3:00pm (Nursery) with After School Care available until 5:00pm.

The Lower Grades

Grades 1st through 4th are also called The Lower Grades and focus on expanding upon the foundation built in Early Childhood. In The Lower Grades, children write in cursive, master reading, explore our world's cultures, study arithmetic and fractions, begin woodworking, go on overnight field trips, and much more.

Students participate in Gardening, Puppetry, Practical Arts, and Spanish specialty classes.

The Upper Grades

In Grades 5th through 8th, the form and foundation of the child's education is strengthened through a steady progression in academic rigor.  Over these four years, students will study ancient cultures, botany, astronomy, physics, geometry and algebra, the Renaissance, and organic chemistry (just a snippet of the curriculum). The 8th grade year culminates in the production of a Shakespeare play, fully memorized and performed in Shakespearean English.

Students participate in Band, Choir, Gardening, Puppetry, Practical Arts, and Spanish specialty classes.
